2018 - NFC West IDP Outlook
San Francisco 49ers
Rising Star: Jaquiski Tartt & Adrian Colbert – Both of these gentlemen will start at the safety position. This is a weak unit altogether. There is no good option in San Francisco for IDP talent. Run away.
Falling Star: Rueben Foster – Mr. Foster is suspended the first two games of the 2018 season. A troubled talent indeed. Maybe in week three if you need to plug him in at your LB spot you could reach and take him.
Sleeper: Richard Sherman – Nobody knows what he looks like in real game speed. The 49ers are super cautious with their new FA acquisition. Sherman was a perennial All-Pro before the Achilles injury. If he can be healthy at some point he can play the game at a high level.
Star: Bobby Wagner – His star stays shining. He is a supreme Tackle Monster. This is an elite top 3 LB. He averages 110+ tackles per season. You could pick him in the 10th round and snag him early. Hamstrings can be tricky, so be aware of that tid-bit.
Falling Star: Earl Thomas – He seems to have some animosity with his contract situation. I’m not sure how this affects his play. Monitor the situation, obviously. He is a great player though with 88 tackles last year, 2 picks, 7 defended passes the guy is worthy of a waiver pickup.
Sleeper: Frank Clark – I like Frank. Frank likes to tackle. Frank likes to sack the QB. He had 9 last season, and 10 the season before. He forces fumbles, recovers them – I’m into that. Frank seems to disrupt the offensive lines of his opponents. Draft Frank after the 10th.
Rising Star: Ndamukong Suh – Let's just say the Rams are stacked, jacked and action-packed. Suh's arrival could spell nightmare to opposing teams offense's. I have to remind you Suh and Aaron Donald are on the same team. Pick Suh after Donald in your draft, but realize they are going to rack up great numbers for your DL.
Falling Star: Aaron Donald – He has a rich contract to uphold. He is pure dominance when on the field. He is playing next to another All-Pro DT in Suh, which will open up more opportunities for him to dominate. Start him you imbecile!
Sleeper: Marcus Peters – He has a history of conflict within his coaching staff, but his new team is stocked full of talent. The LA Rams traded for Peters over the summer with the full belief that he will have a major role in 2018.19 picks over his first three years in the league shows you his worth. The All-Pro needs to be rostered!
Rising Star: Chandler Jones – Coming off his best season with 17 sacks. Jones is actually going to be more comfortable back in his edge rush position in 2018. Due to the new D-Coordinator bringing in a 4-3 style. He is elite, so go get him.
Falling Star: Patrick Peterson – He is no longer a top 5 Cornerback. Those days are past, but with a new coaching staff he is looking to revive himself this year. His play in the preseason - serious competition or not, Patrick looks healthy and dangerous again.
Sleeper: Budda Baker – Great name, good player. An all-around type of player. He can tackle, force turnovers, and defend passes. He is looking to improve this year and should continue to trend closer to 95 tackles this year.
